Here at TB_HQ we like to get a view of London from some of those inspirational folk who have their fingers well and truly on the pulse and make this great city what it is. This edition, we get warm and cosy with Darren Elliott, Co-Founder of the multi-award winning Timberyard
Who are you and what do you do? Well hello there! I’m Darren Elliott, Co-founder and Director at Timberyard UK. We’re speciality tea & coffee workspaces with shops in both Covent Garden and Soho, as well as Old Street.
Home Is? I live in East Dulwich but spend most of my time at our Old Street and West End shops.
Best Coffee in Town? I’m obviously slightly biased on this one, so I’ll recommended some roasts instead. Has Bean and Climpson’s are our current fave’s but we also love The Barn, Drop Coffee, Origin and Cast Iron. If you haven’t tried them, pop in to our new Timberyard store in Soho and have a little explore.
Your favourite Street? Berwick Street for clothes, music and food but mainly for the Soho characters.
The shop you most frequent (or would like to!) Selfridges for everything!
Favourite watering hole? Berners Tavern at the London Edition for Martini’s
Best place to eat for a treat? Arbutus on Frith Street. Lovely Michelin starred restaurant with 3 courses for £26!
The view, building or piece of architecture that most inspires you? I love the view from Skylon at the Royal Festival Hall – perfect for early evening cocktails and my favourite building is the National Theatre – love that stark 60s architecture and excess of wood-pressed concrete.
If you could change or improve anything in London you would… make the sun shine everyday (if I could), otherwise I love London.
What do you miss most when out of town? Culture, food, vibe, variety, options, creativity, fashion, acceptance.
The ultimate place in London to live would be? Soho.
Any top secret tips you’re willing to share? A little known secret is our ‘members only’ coffee shop downstairs at Timberyard Soho. We’re offering half price membership with no joining fee for a limited time so pop in and say hi or find out more at tyuk.com
