News from TB_HQ, we’ve moved!
The boxes are unpacked, the pictures are hung and the kettle is on! The new and improved TB_HQ is open for business at 31 Long Acre in the centre of Covent Garden, the very heart of London’s bustling West End.
Our shiny new HQ is located in a handsome listed building situated about half way along the south east side of Long Acre. Originally built in 1860 in the Venetian style, the building was at first a banana warehouse serving nearby Covent Garden market and at one time the basement was apparently filled with fossilised Christmas trees!
Subsequently 31 Long Acre housed a coach and harness manufacturers, hence the striking gold lettering on the upper floor parapet wall stating boldly ‘CARRIAGE MANUFACTORY’. For many years the building was home to a well known booksellers and often referred to as the ‘most beautiful bookshop in London’ . Easily one of the most architecturally interesting and unique buildings on the street, the striking facade of pink stone features intricate barley-twist detailing and ornate window frames proudly painted ‘Covent Garden Green’, a colour many will be familiar with from the steelwork at the market hall covering the centre of Covent Garden’s famous piazza.
