The opening of Sesame on Covent Garden’s Garrick Street has caused much excitement at TB_HQ, we’re big fans of Ottolenghi and a feast of Mediterranean street food on our doorstep sounded very inviting indeed!
The brainchild of Noam Bar, one of the founders of Ottelenghi, this ‘posh kebab shop’ serves up food inspired by the market stalls of the Middle East, from beach shacks in Istanbul to the alleyways of Jerusalem.
We sampled amazing fluffy pittas (the fluffiest we’ve ever encountered!) filled with spicy goodness, lemon and za’atar chicken with chopped salad and hummus and lama spiced lamb kebab with chopped salad, tahini and mint yoghurt – yum!
We were all about the kebabs for our inaugural visit but the salads on offer looked pretty tasty too so we’ll be back to sample these for sure.
Save room for the sweet treats, bite sized, particularly moreish and a great accompaniment for the typically Middle Eastern coffee.
Service is quick and friendly and take out seemed to be the order of the day for most of the patrons during our visit, however it’s a great place to hang out for a buzzy lunch with seating both upstairs and down and an inviting décor with eclectic art all over the place and beautiful tiled walls and floors.
