The women who inspire me… Hannah Read

Hannah Read – Co-Founding Partner
When Anne-Marie and I started Tavistock Bow seven years ago, one of our founding principles, as two working mothers coming from the corporate sector, was to create an inclusive business with a workplace where there was no question of equality being the norm.
We feel incredibly proud to work alongside so many strong women not only within our own business, but also those of our clients. Our industry is becoming evermore equality & diversity aware, and inspiring that more women than ever can be found in senior roles throughout the sector.
Many women inspire me everyday, but nevermore so than during the past 12 months whilst we’ve all been navigating our way through a surreal and challenging time.
Juggling homeschooling my two boys with running a business has certainly presented a unique challenge, and one I know I’m far from alone in facing. I have sought support and inspiration from both my girlfriends close to home and a wider network of women getting their message out there.
If I had to pick one woman from the past 12 months who’s influenced me the most, it would be Peloton head instructor Robin Arzon. Having sampled a Peloton the day the pop-up studio launched on Floral Street back in 2018, I was immediately hooked, one of the reasons being Robin – truly inspirational in so many ways – her continued determination, strength, positivity and outlook on life has helped me through this most challenging year.
I would also mention Alex Hely-Hutchinson, founder of 26 Grains in Neal’s Yard. I’ve been a fan since it first opened and have attempted recreating many of Alex’s recipes at home. Seeing all the hard work Alex has done over the past year providing meals for both NHS workers and now schools is fantastic, a truly brilliant woman.
Finally, Dawn O’Porter has to get a mention for keeping me laughing daily with her Instagram stories. I would urge anyone who isn’t already doing so to follow her, as her amusing outlook on life is something everybody needs right now.
