At this time of year, thoughts at TB_HQ obviously turn to Christmas and a well earned break! Our business allows us the opportunity to meet and work with a diverse range of talented people, so we’re never short of folks to seek inspiration from when it comes to the festive season. We thought we’d ask our friends at Owl Design what top interiors tips they could suggest for home decor this Christmas.
“All things Bohemia has been a big interiors trend this year. Inspired by holidays in Ibiza and Mexico, it evokes a feeling of lazy summer days in warmer climes. It also makes a great theme for your Christmas dinner table!
Here is a dining room set we designed for Ideal Home Show Christmas this year titled ‘A Balearic Christmas’
We used a neutral colour palette as a base, with an emphasis on natural materials such as wood and wicker and added pattern, texture and pops of colour to give a boho vibe. Here is how you can re-create the look in your own home for the festive season.
Tree Decorations
Stepping away from the traditional red and gold, pom poms make a fun a colourful alternative tree decoration. Paperchase do a brilliant selection this year, including pom pom bells and Mexican inspired ornaments, which is where all the ones on this tree are from.
Table Setting
Mix and match colourful crockery and multi coloured glassware for a vibrant and unique Christmas table.
We used a table runner as a base in the centre and then added height with tree decorations and tall candle sticks with jewel toned candles.
Wall Decorations
Handcrafted items such as Indian tapestries and African bowls are an alternative way to add colour and decoration to your walls.
The variations of patterns look great all grouped together. Drape them with fairly lights to make them extra festive!
Faux Fur
Layer faux fur cushions, throws and rugs to add warmth to the room, giving that ever important feeling of cosiness we want on a cold winters day. A roaring fire would be the cherry on top!
Plants
As an alternative to poinsettia’s and holly why not go tropical with mini pineapple stems, Aloe Vera plants and cacti?
