Alternative Mother’s Day Treats in Covent Garden
Flowers. Chocolate. Scented candles. There is nothing wrong with any of these. But if you’re looking for something a little different as a gift this Mother’s Day, we have a few suggestions.
School of Wok cookery class
No mother should be seen near a hot stove on such a special day unless they’re getting acquainted with a wok in one of SOW’s immersive cookery classes!
At the @schoolofwok, mums can don a chef hat and whites to hone their culinary skills with a range of Asian feasts. From learning how to perfect Japan’s iconic Katsu curry, creating the much‑loved classic Thai Som Tam Salad or whipping up some delicious Korean street food. With an experienced chef at the helm, this is a fun and hands‑on experience. With the best bit being indulging in your creations at the end!

Cocktail making at Mr. Fogg’s Gin Parlour
A cliché perhaps, but many mums appreciate a good old G&T. @mrfoggsgb has taken gin enthusiasm to another level in their quaint and atmospheric Gin Parlour that is like a Victorian-era time warp.
Mummy can become a master (or mistress?!) of gin, or learn to concoct their own cocktail on a ‘Gin Safari’ with over 230 gins to choose from. Or opt for the Tipples & Treats experience, consisting of two cocktails with a slice of cake. Dangerous.

A live class at Peloton Studios
However, if your mum’s tonic is exercise, why not book a live @onepeloton class? With a choice of spin, running, walking and yoga classes, there’s something to suit everyone’s pace.
One Peloton
After working up a sweat with one of Peloton’s legendary instructors (will she get a shout-out?!), enjoy some pampering with the complimentary Malin + Goetz products in the contemporary locker rooms. Then enjoy freshly made snacks, juices and smoothies in the on-site wellness bar.

Take in an Opera (or just the view) at the Royal Opera House
Without a doubt, Covent Garden’s most iconic attraction is an opera or ballet performance at the @royaloperahouse. This would undoubtedly score you BIG points with Mum, but a drink at their Winter Terrace on the fifth floor can be equally as special.
Our own Anne‑Marie’s go-to spot, this little-known bar provides spectacular views inside the Floral Hall of the Royal Opera House on the escalator ride up before revealing a charming and relaxed covered terrace. Perfect for enjoying a glass or two of bubbles whilst people-watching from high over the buzzing Piazza beneath.

Afternoon Tea at One Aldwych
Afternoon tea may not be the most original idea. However, this is no ordinary tea‑drinking affair as the Willy Wonka-inspired Afternoon Tea at @onealdwychhotel is a magical journey of savoury and sweet treats inspired by Roald Dahl’s classic book.
Fabulous fluffy floss, chocolate milkshake mixed with a waterfall, ‘not quite as it seems’ beetroot macarons and fizzy lifting drinks will leave you feeling full, happy and more than a little nostalgic.
