Why Bankside?
The industrial shadow of Tate Modern’s mid-century former power station dominates the skyline, it’s re-imagining by Hurzog de Muron a juxtapostion against the faithful recreation of Elizabethan architecture at Shakespeare’s Globe next door. The culinary delights of Borough Yards and Borough Market are only a few minutes stroll east, with the Tate Modern Garden offering a pocket of calm just in front of the gallery, with direct views toward St. Paul’s, a perfect summer spot for a bit of people watching, or just to relax and watch the boats roll past along the river.
