Bassist-turned-cheesemaker Alex James lived at this rare Grade II listed freehold house on Mercer Street during the early 2000s

A converted warehouse in Covent Garden with both rockstar and architectural creds has hit the market at £3.5m/£1,650pw.

The five-floor building on Mercer Street in Seven Dials was converted into a house by Sir Terry Farrell between 1983 and 1985, as part of the regeneration of Comyn Ching Triangle, and later awarded a Grade II listing on account of its architectural merit and degree of survival.

Farrell’s restored facades, internal fixtures and fittings remain intact, and highlights include a cracking master bedroom on the top floor, original full height glazed loading doors, and a balcony overlooking Ching Court.

The house once caught the eye of Blur bassist-turned-master cheesemaker Alex James, who took up residence for several years back in the early 2000s.
