Although located well outside of our traditional West End patch, when the opportunity arose we just couldn’t pass on the chance to market this Deptford Park home with such a cool name – ‘THE GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE’.

Despite this being a bit of a departure for us, we successfully agreed the sale and have now exchange contracts on this unique and imposing house overlooking Deptford Park. This south-east London hotspot has fast become one of the Capital’s hippest neighbourhoods and The Governor’s Residence offers a substantial bay-fronted Victorian house of exceptional volume and architectural clarity, arranged over four floors and combining original character features, contemporary architectural flourishes and generous ceiling heights in excess of 3m on the ground floor, 2.92m on the first, and 4.79m at the apex of the vaulted top floor.

Originally remodelled in 2003, the design was undertaken by South London RIBA award winning practice Charles Barclay Architects. Renowned for their modernist projects inspired by practice Principal Charles Barclay’s time as an architect in New York, they shape buildings with the guiding principle of ‘Modernism with Heart’.

Our successful marketing campaign resulted in a flurry of interest in this unique home, generating several bids from multiple prospective buyers, all against the backdrop of 2025’s challenging market conditions.

So despite this being something a little different for us, and in a less than favourable market, the right home presented in the right way, with the right approach and the right mindset, attracts the right people.
